ArcelorMittal Belgium’s offer for a production line in Flémalle, Wallonia has been accepted by the trustees who were appointed by the Liège Commercial Court, following the bankruptcy of Liberty Galati – Belgian Branch (LGBB) on 22 April 2025.

The agreement, which was signed today, includes the takeover of all facilities in Flémalle, including the hot-dip galvanising line Galva 5, CEPI (repair) lines and a water treatment plant. The hot-dip galvanising line produces zinc-coated products that are used in the automotive and construction industries.

ArcelorMittal Belgium expects to start operating the galvanising line in 2026, following approximately nine months of maintenance work and investment projects required to restore the line.

“The galvanising line in Flémalle will allow us to expand our ability to manufacture a high added-value product for our automotive and construction customers across Europe. We look forward to working with the skilled team in Flémalle and to restoring the plant to operating at a world-class level”, said Frederik Van De Velde, CEO ArcelorMittal Belgium.

The final steps to complete the acquisition are expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
