Galva 5 in the spotlight in Liège

In early October, two major events took place at the Flémalle site (Liège): the official inauguration of Galva 5 and, a few days later, an open house that attracted 785 visitors.

After four years of downtime and extensive modernization work, the Galva 5 line is now operated by a team of 71 employees, many of whom already have experience at the former Galva 5 or at other ArcelorMittal sites in the region. Galva 5 strengthens the industrial capabilities of ArcelorMittal Belgium. The line processes hot-rolled steel coils from Ghent for applications in areas such as traffic safety, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, industry, and the automotive sector.

Following the inauguration, which brought together customers, government officials, partners, and employees, the site opened its doors to the general public on Sunday, October 4, during the“Journée Découverte Entreprises.”

Open House Day in Ghent

The Ghent site also opened its doors and welcomed more than 2,500 visitors on Sunday, October 4, during Open Company Day. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about the steel production process, explore the site on a bus tour, and take part in guided tours of the continuous casting plant, the “ hot strip mill ,” and the All Weather Terminal, the site’s covered loading terminal.

The event also offered an opportunity to learn more about ArcelorMittal Belgium’s products, expertise, innovation projects, and sustainability goals. Through interactive demonstrations and meetings with employees, visitors gained a unique insight into one of Europe’s largest integrated steel companies.

Together, the events attracted approximately 3,500 visitors, who had the opportunity to get an inside look at ArcelorMittal Belgium. A heartfelt thank you to all employees, volunteers, and partners who contributed to the success of these events.
