In dialogue with our neighbours

As of 2004, ArcelorMittal Gent regularly organises an Environmental meeting day, during which we invite: The mayors and aldermen of the surrounding cities, the environmental officers of the province of East Flanders and the city of Ghent, the environmental policymakers, the local environmental councils and nature associations, the surrounding companies and the local residents.

During the event we elaborate on how we invest in a production process that takes the environment and local surroundings into account. We create a dialogue with those present on environmental steel-topics. Afterwards we offer all participants the opportunity to visit our company.

Each edition of the Environmental-meeting day has revolved around one specific topic. The following topics were discussed in the past:

• 2004: Air purification
• 2005: Sustainable water management
• 2007: Sustainable use of raw materials
• 2010: Energy
• 2013: Ten times laureate of the Environmental charter East-Flanders
• 2015: The renewal of our Environmental permit

The Environmental meeting day takes place in the same weekend as the Company Discovery day, which is traditionally organised the first weekend of October.
