The Social Charter aims to reiterate several principles defined by Belgian law. ArcelorMittal Belgium's Management Committee confirms that no exceptions to these principles will be tolerated.
This concerns the following principles in particular:
- Prohibition of child labor
- Prohibition of forced or compulsory labor
- Prohibition of discrimination on any grounds whatsoever
- Application of equal remuneration systems, regardless of gender or origin of employees
- Prohibition of a remuneration system that does not comply with the statutory minimum wage
- Prohibition of threats or disciplinary sanctions that undermine the dignity of employees
- Application of legal principles concerning rest periods between work shifts and, more generally, respect for working hours
- Guaranteed freedom of association, including the right to form or join organizations of their choice and to bargain collectively, without interference, opposition, discrimination, retaliation, or harassment.
- Guarantee of respect for human rights
- Guarantee that the applicable safety rules respect human rights and public freedoms.
By signing this Charter, each member of the Management Committee undertakes to understand this Charter and all applicable legal principles in the social sphere and to play an active role in them.
